We have already had the opportunity to introduce IPS (In Plane Switching) technology, talking about the screens of smartphones , televisions and monitors . The time has come to investigate the topic, to understand what the advantages of using this LCD technology are.
IPS panels have existed for a long time; but they were used, so far, in the professional field (and in particular photographic), for their ability to reproduce colors as faithfully as possible, as well as brilliance and contrast.
Now, LG has included this technology in most of its products (in addition to the aforementioned monitors and smartphones, also for digital signage ) to offer the best image quality. How?
Here are the five main advantages of using IPS.
1. More real colors
More brilliance and contrast (combined with uniform color temperatures) allow you not to lose any image detail. So much that it will seem real: the colors are so similar to the real ones that you will have the feeling of experiencing the film or the program in first person.
2. Color calibration
LG Display, a company that is part of the LG Electronics group, is the division that deals with the production of screens for all LG products. And that has developed color calibration tests to ensure a more accurate rendering.
3. Greater viewing angle: up to 178º
IPS technology allows you to see the best image from any angle, up to 178 degrees (horizontally but also vertically). Whether you are standing, sitting or lying down, you will not perceive any change in color or loss of parts of the image. This makes the difference, especially when you find yourself in front of the canvas (and friends will queue up to watch the game or the X-Factor final from you).
4. Prevents eye strain
IPS technology allows you to reproduce an image with more details: this helps to avoid eye fatigue. Even the continuous and very rapid refresh of the images allows a more comfortable vision, even of action films and sports shows.
IPS is an ECO-Friendly technology: the light is emitted through high efficiency LEDs, which allow to considerably reduce energy consumption.
